چکیده

The heart is heavily innervated with sympathetic and parasympathetic nerve fibers. Although both receptor types are present in the atria and ventricles, the cholinergic receptors are located mainly in the atria and the adrenergic receptors in the ventricles. The distribution of these receptors in the ventricles is not homogenous but follows apex-to-base and epicardium-to-endocardium gradients. The adrenergic receptors are localized in the myocardium and in the coronary arteries and are of several types and subtypes. The receptors constitute 15% of the total receptors and are both postand presynaptic, whereas the -receptors constitute 85% of the receptors and are postsynaptic. In the coronary arteries, -1d and -2 are most common, whereas in the left ventricular (LV) myocardium, -1a and -1 prevail.1

Determination of sensitivity and specificity of QT interval in ECG of diabetic patients for ndiagnosis of cardiac autonomic neuropathy

one of the important complications of diabetes mellitus that physicians pay less attention to is diabetic autonomic neuropathy(DNA) ,especially cardiac autonomic neuropathy (CAN).this has a poor prognosis and is accompanied by sudden death risk, recently several investigations that were carried out for CAN detection ,suggested that QT-interval prolongation in these patients is an important diagn...

Diabetic gastroparesis in association with autonomic neuropathy and microvasculopathy.

Gastroparesis is a frequent and sometimes life-threatening complication of diabetes mellitus. Autonomic neuropathy seems to be one of the most important mechanisms underlying this entity, together with the other probable pathologies. The present study was performed in order to identify an alternative to gastric scintigraphy as a screening test. The gastric emptying times of 60 subjects (Group 1...

Effect of Glycemic Control on Sudomotor Denervation in Type 2 Diabetes

OBJECTIVE Sudomotor symptoms are a common component of diabetic autonomic neuropathy, but the pathology of sudomotor innervation and its relationship with glycemic control have remained obscured. RESEARCH DESIGN AND METHODS We enrolled 42 patients (26 males and 16 females aged 56.64 ± 12.67 years) with diabetic neuropathy defined by symmetric distally predominant sensory symptoms, abnormal ne...

Pupil signs of sympathetic autonomic neuropathy in patients with type 1 diabetes.

OBJECTIVE Pupillary autonomic neuropathy is considered an early sign of the development of systemic autonomic neuropathy. Sympathetic denervation is related to the duration of diabetes and the development of systemic autonomic dysfunction. We investigated pupil responsiveness to directly and indirectly acting sympathomimetics in type 1 diabetic patients with and without long-term complications,...

Noninvasive Assessment and Modeling of Diabetic Cardiovascular Autonomic Neuropathy

OF DISSERTATION NONINVASIVE ASSESSMENT AND MODELING OF DIABETIC CARDIOVASCULAR AUTONOMIC NEUROPATHY Noninvasive assessment of diabetic cardiovascular autonomic neuropathy (AN): Cardiac and vascular dysfunctions resulting from AN are complications of diabetes, often undiagnosed. Our objectives were to: 1) determine sympathetic and parasympathetic components of compromised blood pressure regulati...
